Františkovy Lázně (Czechia)

Surrounded by wooded hills, Františkovy Lázně has a mild climate and many springs. There are 24 mineral springs. In the 18th century the water from Františkovy Lázně was supplied to the whole Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The beneficial effects of the water from the springs have been known for centuries, but the proper spa was founded only in 1793 under the order of Emperor Franz II. Neo-Classical spa buildings were built on the undulating plateau in the middle of the park in the 19th century.
