Sicily has come a long and thorny path to the form in which we can find it today. The first historically documented inhabitants of Sicily were from the 3rd millennium BC indigenous Sikan. The nation, similar to the American Indians' habits, lived throughout the island in the early days, but under the onslaught of other waves of settlement it was forced to move into the woods. Religion oriented towards the animal kingdom played a very important role in their lives.
